What you'll do: This position will have an official domicile at the Ozark Correctional Center in Fordland, MO. However, this position will be required to travel to DAI facilities across the state of Missouri to assist with staffing needs as approved by the respective Deputy Division Director. The annual salary for this position is $43,705.68, which is based on a normal 40-hour workweek. This position is also eligible for retention/longevity pay, shift differential and overtime pay in accordance with departmental policy D2-8.4 Compensatory Time and Office of Administration's Division of Personnel Differential Pay Guidelines. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 12pm (noon) to 12am (midnight). The Mobile Custody Team Officer will be expected to report to the Ozark Correctional Center by noon each Monday in order to receive orders on which facility the team will be assisting. In addition, the Mobile Custody Team Officer will return to the Ozark Correctional Center at approximately midnight on Friday of each week. While on assignment, Mobile Custody Team Officers will be provided a state vehicle for transportation to and from the assisted facility, provided lodging while travelling and will be reimbursed for meals that are not provided by the institution or hotel. Mobile Custody Team Officers will be required to carpool in the state vehicle and may be required to reside with a roommate while travelling. Candidates will be expected to maintain security in buildings/towers/other posts of an adult correctional facility; intervene during emergencies or altercations and gain physical control of offenders. This position will also supervise movement of offenders inside/outside the correctional facility; conduct periodic counts of offenders; search offenders and their living quarters for contraband; escort/transport offenders to predetermined locations. Candidates will be expected to supervise offenders: in housing units; during the performance of work activities; and during recreational/religious activities as well as supervises visits with offenders; and search visitors/offenders/buildings/grounds for contraband. The candidate will be expected to conduct inspections for health and safety hazards; prepare/submit reports on offender violations of divisional or correctional facility rules/unusual offender behaviors/observed mechanical deficiencies/security breaches or failures. In addition, the candidate will be expected to discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders; refer serious problems to proper correctional facility staff; and promote rehabilitation by attempting to modify offender's social attitudes/discouraging undesirable behaviors/encouraging worthwhile activities. As a Career Coach for the Department of Corrections, your role would involve helping newly hired custody professionals navigate their career paths within the corrections system. As a Career Coach, you will assist the Department of Corrections Staff with; Understanding the Corrections System and the Corrections Way Individual Career Planning Professional Development Resume Building and Interview Skills Networking Conflict Resolution and Stress Management Promotion Strategies Work-Life Balance Stay Informed By providing personalized guidance, support, and resources, you can help Department of Corrections employees navigate their career paths, overcome challenges, and achieve professional goals within the corrections system. Preferred Qualifications/Skills: Previous Experience with Missouri or Other Department of Corrections, or at a city, county, state, or federal correctional facility is preferred Strong sense of responsibility and ethical conduct Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team Ability to be able to work a flexible schedule All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed.
