St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South Campus (FTC-S), a Missouri Department of Mental Health forensic inpatient facility, has a position for a licensed or license-eligible psychologist. The position is currently open with start date negotiable.
St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South Campus is a 180-bed inpatient forensic hospital serving individuals committed to the Department of Mental Health. This is a treatment psychologist position in the Transitional Rehabilitation Program, which strives to prepare clients for release and for safe, satisfying, and meaningful participation in the community. The facility is seeking a person for whom inpatient treatment and working within a team setting is a passion.
Successful candidates will possess considerable knowledge of individual and group psychotherapy with persons who have severe and persistent mental illness, neurocognitive impairment, intellectual impairment and personality disorders. Experience in the treatment of substance use disorders will also be an asset. Clients are treated using a client-centered approach largely employing Illness Management and Recovery (IMR), Motivational Interviewing, and Psychiatric Rehabilitation models. Clients also receive individualized psychoeducation targeting the legal matters that often precede admission. Program specific training is provided.
The psychologist in this position is an integral part of the interdisciplinary treatment team, and will participate in team decision-making, treatment planning, and consultation with psychiatry, pharmacy, nursing, social work and rehabilitation staff. Thus, expertise in facilitation of the team process will be an important skill. The psychologist will conduct psychological assessments on an as needed basis. In this role, the psychologist will administer, score and interpret intellectual, neurocognitive and personality assessments, and provide written reports for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning. There will be opportunities to learn the administration and interpretation of a variety of risk assessments.
All psychologists serve the entire facility through leadership of and participation in facility committees and special projects in meeting Joint Commission accreditation standards. The psychologist will also have the opportunity to function as a supervisor for the St. Louis Psychology Internship Consortium (SLPIC) and to provide didactics in individual areas of specialty.
Duties include :
- Develop and implement individual treatment plans
- Conduct individual therapy and lead treatment groups
- Conduct psychological assessments as needed and complete necessary treatment documentation.
- Opportunities to supervise practicum students, doctoral psychology interns, and postdoctoral residents
- Participate in hospital wide committees and other leadership opportunities available within the hospital.

- Licensure as a Psychologist, or license eligibility in Missouri.
- If not licensed at time of hire, must attain license within 12 months.
