The current vacancies are in the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. THE POSITION: Under general supervision, performs work of average difficulty involving technical office and field work checking development plans for conformance with City standards; preparing and checking final maps, legal descriptions, plans, and specifications utilizing computer aided drafting format and performing research of record information in the Public Works Department. Performs other work as required.
Representative Duties
The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of this classification. They are descriptive, not limiting:
Essential Duties : Prepares property descriptions and drafts plats for annexations, public way openings and closing. Prepares descriptions both written and graphic for property to be deeded to the City. Drafts plans for public improvement districts, prepares estimates, calculates individual assessments. Performs research work in checking and verifying names establishing ownerships, assessed valuation and similar projects. Performs other work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

- Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. equivalent, AND four (4) years of experience performing sub-professional engineering or field survey work in a civil engineering environment including two (2) years of computer aided drafting experience, OR
- Two (2) years of college in an Engineering related field AND two (2) years of experience as an Engineering Aide II or Computer Drafting Technician
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field may be substituted for the required experience
- Valid California Class "C" driver's license
- Must be able to pass a background check

VACATION: Accrual rate is determined by bargaining unit.
1-4 years of service: 10 days per year.
5-13 years of service: 15 days per year.
14+ years of service: 20 days per year.
VACATION - FIRE SAFETY SHIFT PERSONNEL ONLY:
1-4 years of service: 4.68 (24-hr. duty shifts)
5-15 years of service: 7.02 (24-hr. duty shifts)
16+ years of service: 9.36 (24-hr. duty shifts)
HOLIDAYS: 13 paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE: Earned at the rate of one working day per month of service to a maximum of 120 days; portions therafter may be convertible.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE: 10 days per year for General Supervisory and Management employees.
