INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIST II

SALARY INFORMATION

In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following dates:

Effective June 28, 2024 - 4.25% increase

Effective June 27, 2025 - 4.00% increase

Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

OC PUBIC WORKS
OC Public Works provides services on a regional basis to unincorporated areas, to cities, and to other County agencies and departments. The primary mission of the department is to protect and enrich the community through efficient delivery and maintenance of public works infrastructure, planning, and development services. OC FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
The OC Facilities Maintenance Service Area ensures efficient and innovative operations of County facilities through maintenance management services. OC Facilities Maintenance employs over 100 full-time employees with an annual operating budget of $5 million. The Service Area is led by a Deputy Director who oversees facilities managers and skilled craft and maintenance personnel, including supervisors, leads, and administrative support positions.

THE OPPORTUNITY
OC Public Works, Facilities Maintenance, is seeking an experienced Information Technologist II to provide day-to-day operational support to the Environmental Control Systems (ECS) unit. Incumbents in this position also support architecture and engineering project managers on various facility and capital improvement projects. This position represents an exciting opportunity to ensure that County of Orange facilities are safe, secure, and habitable.

The Information Technologist II job duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Configure, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot various building automation and lighting control systems
  • Provide first-level diagnostics for "hot/cold" calls to ensure the comfort of building occupants and employees
  • Respond to lighting issues related to building automation
  • Process and schedule work orders
  • Program various graphics packages
  • Perform trend analysis and ensure the continuous monitoring of environmental and building control systems

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
A minimum of two (2) yearsof professional Information Technology experience with a focus on building controls, building automation, and lighting controls is highly desirable.

Certifications and at least one (1) year of experience in one or more of the following specialties are preferred:
  • Niagara N4 Certified
  • Distech Certified
  • Siemens Insight/Desigo Certified
  • Acuity Lighting controls experience

In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge and expertise in the following core competencies:

Technical Expertise
  • Practical understanding of BACNET/LonWorks networking and controller management
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and firewall port assignments
  • Knowledge of control system architecture and ability to make design recommendation for new projects
  • Experience creating and editing graphics in various control systems

Effective Communication & Collaboration
  • Present information in a clear, logical, and concise manner, both orally and in writing
  • Interact with end users, employees, contractors, supervisors, managers, and other stakeholders at various levels of technical understanding
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel, engineers, project managers, inspection teams, and other parties involved in building and facility projects
  • Ability to handle conflict in a professional and diplomatic manner

Analytical & Organizational Skills
  • Analyze data, draw conclusions, organize and conduct research to make appropriate recommendations to accomplish business objectives
  • Ability to remain calm under tight deadlines
  • Prioritize job duties and tasks

Special Requirements
This position requires possession of a valid California Driver License, Class C or higher.

Once the assessments have been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
