Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the WRD Senior Control Systems Technician position. This position will be primarily responsible for:
  • Training and coordinating staff with tasks and work orders based on departmental responsibilities.
  • Working independently and prioritizing assignments based on changing field conditions or process concerns.
  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting, testing, and repairing electrical power equipment, motor controls (including VFDs), and instrumentation.
  • Reading and interpreting detailed electrical schematics and working with electronics, SCADA, PLCs, electrical ladder diagrams, process and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs), VFDs, telemetry or similar.
  • Timely and concise communication with technical and non-technical staff, salespeople, consultants, contractors, and the public.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of a recognized electronics systems training program and five (5) years of full-time progressive skilled experience in the installation, maintenance, malfunction analysis, calibration and repair of industrial instrumentation such as found in water or wastewater plants. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the formal training program on a year for year basis. Attendance at a recognized trade school is desirable, as is experience in an industrial or plant setting.

Working Conditions: Work is subject to performance under adverse environmental conditions. Incumbents may be exposed to oils, lubricants, toxic chemicals and gases during the performance of duties. Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Subject to shift assignment and on-call status.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Class C Nevada driver's license at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
