We are recruiting to fill a Treatment Court Administrator I position to perform administrative and managerial work in managing and coordinating treatment court activities in smaller jurisdictions. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a judge or drug court commissioner. The employee is expected to perform administrative functions with minimal supervision. Work will involve coordination of activities of the court, other agencies and organizations as they relate to the treatment court.

Other key responsibilities include: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

  • Manages and coordinates the treatment court file, court automation and case processing.
  • Manages and coordinates administrative services for the treatment court, which includes budgeting, accounting and finance, personnel, and related administrative services.
  • Monitors, coordinates, and evaluates the effectiveness of the treatment court programs through process and outcome studies to determine requirements for program modification and personnel training.
  • Prepares the treatment court budget under the direction of a judge or drug court commissioner.
  • Identifies, prepares applications for and administers local, state and federal grants that would assist with the operation of the treatment court.

  • Thorough knowledge of court procedures, legal documents, statutes and legal factors pertaining to the court system and treatment courts.
  • Thorough knowledge of the organization, functions, responsibilities and procedures of the court system.
  • Considerable knowledge of the modern principles and practices of public and judicial administration.
  • Considerable knowledge of public procurement procedures.
  • Some knowledge of treatment courts, chemical addiction, substance abuse treatment, mental health disorders/treatment and principles associated with the operation of a treatment court.


Minimum qualifications: (The following statement represents the minimum education and experience which will be used to determine qualifications of applicants. Additional experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.)

Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in judicial administration, public or business administration, sociology, psychology, criminal justice or a related field, and three years of responsible professional experience in management or administration.
