Assistant Chief Nurse Executive

Center for Behavioral Medicine (CBM), a modern 65 bed, Medicare Certified (CMS) and Joint Commission Accredited (TJC) Forensic Psychiatric Facility operated by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Behavioral Health, provides inpatient psychiatric treatment to individuals adjudicated as Incompetent to Stand Trial or Permanently Incompetent to Stand Trial.

The successful candidate for this position will provide:

Directs and supervise the work of Registered Nurses and other staff on the units.

evaluates the nursing services in a multi-ward unit or program, Leadership, direction, planning, analysis and coordination of the Nursing Department. As an integral executive team member, the ACNE will be responsible for strategic nursing initiatives, department staffing, fiscal accountability, and monitoring of nursing department standards, policies and procedures, and must possess the following;

What you’ll do:

  • Directs and supervises the unit managers.
  • Develop system for timely and effective communication with the unit staff.
  • Work with Unit managers to resolve interdisciplinary team issues.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, arrive to work on time, minimize unscheduled absences.
  • Working with hospital and nursing leadership to secure accreditation from TJC and certification from CMS/DHSS
  • Performance Improvement methodologies (preference will be given to those familiar with CQI Plus and Lean)
  • The development and management of nursing schedules, acuity systems, and nursing budgets (including overtime and PRN).
  • Effective strategies for the recruitment and retention of professional nurses and para-professional nursing technicians
  • Evidence Based Practice in the treatment and rehabilitation of clinical populations with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) as well as Intellectual Disabilities


The ideal candidate will possess personal and professional commitment to the treatment of individuals with an SPMI, including values consistent with Trauma Informed Care, Recovery Based Practice, Advocacy and Stigma-Reduction, Client Choice and Empowerment.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Missouri.
  • A Master’s Degree in nursing.
  • Three (3) or more years of high level nursing management experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting.
