Major Duties

Under the general direction of the Educational Opportunity Program Operations Specialist, the EOP Events Coordinator supports, advocates, and facilitates the mission of California State University, Northridge, and the Educational Opportunity Program by discharging responsibilities that promote and encourage historically low-income and educationally disadvantaged students to seek higher educational opportunities specifically at CSU, Northridge, and EOP. The incumbent is responsible for performing complex professional-level student services work involving the planning and execution of several EOP events that promote students' educational success, and the mission, vision, and values of the university promoting an environment that supports diversity and inclusivity.
  • Responsible for planning, executing, and implementing a variety of events, including but not limited to seminars, workshops, orientations, graduations, holidays, award ceremonies, program training, student-centered, and student-parent-centered activities.
  • Provides support to the EOP Central Administration Office, which includes the EOP Milt and Debbie Valera Resilient Scholars Program (RSP), EOP Admissions and Partnerships, EOP Graphics and Media, EOP Transitional Programs (TP), and EOP Retention Services.
  • Serves as support, as needed, to the additional programs under the EOP umbrella such as TRIO Student Support Services Program (TSSSP), and Bridge to the Future (B2F) as well as EOP’s College Satellite Offices, and Service Satellites.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Equivalent to five (5) years of full-time, progressively responsible administrative or technical office management experience in an administrative capacity exercising independent judgment and leading the work of others.
  • Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related fields may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
  • Experience working with multicultural/multi-ethnic populations students that are historically underrepresented, under-prepared, low-income, and first-generation college students is preferred.
  • Direct experience with Educational Opportunity and/or TRIO Programs is highly desirable.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Thorough mastery of: office methods, procedures, and practices; and correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Expertise in using Microsoft Office (incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook or other email/calendaring platforms).
  • Knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and project management; group process training and development practices preferred.
  • Ability and specialized skills to: prepare letters, memos, and reports; transcribe minutes; make travel arrangements; analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions; apply judgment, discretion, and initiative in establishing priorities, providing follow-up and quality control.
  • Ability to use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist; understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations; operate standard office equipment and software.
  • Ability to create and execute desired plan; understand and work within programmatic budgets; negotiate and execute contracts is desirable.


Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: Administrative Support Coordinator II / 1035 / 2
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3,865 - $4,400 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3,865 - $6,336 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
