ABOUT THE JOB:As a Victims' Advocate, you will work alongside Deputy District Attorneys to provide information and support to crime victims throughout the criminal justice system. Victims' Advocates will be expected to work in the field and be on-call for a small duration of each month.
This is a full-time position that will work in a professional office Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00pm.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide information to crime victims about their rights throughout the criminal justice system.
- Work alongside Deputy District Attorneys and law enforcement to provide support and service referrals to crime victims.
- Assist with collecting restitution documentation.
What You Will Bring:Knowledge of or experience with:
- The criminal justice system.
- People in crisis or who have experienced trauma.
- Resources available to assist people.
Skill in:
- Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software and entering information into a computer system with speed and accuracy.
- Understanding complex legal systems.
- De-escalation.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services, or related field;
- AND one (1) year of social services case management or criminal justice system experience;
- OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.
Necessary Special RequirementsDriving is a requirement for this position. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
Must have dependable transportation and be able and willing to drive throughout Deschutes County in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
Must complete Victims' Advocate training within one year of hire.
