Why you’ll love this position:The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center is looking for an positive, energetic, and caring Recreation/Music Therapist to provide services as part of one of our innovative interdisciplinary treatment teams to mentally ill forensic clients in a high security setting. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate compassion and an ability to work in a trauma informed and recovery based environment.
This is a vocational teaching position accountable for supervising and instructing clients in basic and advanced career or technical occupational skills (e.g. plumbing, welding, carpentry, automotive mechanics, electrical wiring, metalworking, computer repair, food service, cosmetology); preparing reports based on client attendance, performance, progress, and skills assimilation; and assisting in the development, planning, and preparation of course outline and content.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of skilled or technical occupation in which instruction is presented. Ability to provide instruction in a state correctional, youth, and/or mental health facility.
Typical qualifications
High School diploma or equivalency and 2 or more years of relevant experience, certification, or licenses. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
