Under the guidance of the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a comprehensive marketing and promotions program for the Associated Students and its numerous programs and services.
Job Duties
Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates part-time student assistants.
Provides leadership, development, and direction for a team of student assistant employees in project coordination, social media and promotions.
Oversees the distribution of a wide variety of marketing and promotional materials, including, but not limited to online and mobile ads, digital screens, social media, e-newsletters, text message and print ads; flyers, brochures, lawn signs and posters.
Oversees and ensures the execution of marketing requests and meeting set deadlines.
Coordinates contests, visual displays, presentations and promotional tabling opportunities including but not limited to Univ100 tours, New Student Orientation, Meet the Clubs.
Recommend hardware/software tools to make sure department is effective.
Develops on and off-campus contacts relative to AS marketing ventures, including but not limited to: social networking, the CSUN campus newspaper (Sundial), CSUN academic and non-academic departments and campus auxiliaries.
Develops and oversees social media: calendars, content and analytics reports.
Develops, implements, evaluates, and suggest refinement to the Associated Students’ Marketing Plan.
Assists in the development and day-to-day monitoring of the Marketing Department’s annual operating budget.
Leads weekly Marketing Team Meetings to ensure the coordination of student employees, marketing strategies and consistent implementation of specific marketing tactics.
Coordinates video and photographic documentation of Associated Students events and programs for inclusion on the AS’ YouTube channel and social networking sites.
Coordinates or oversees the coordination of surveys and social media polls to assess marketing effectiveness.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field (Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Mass Communications).
Experience: Four years of full-time experience in marketing, public relations or graphic design; one year of supervisory experience in a related field. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
Desired Qualifications: Experience with brand management preferred; Knowledge of the principles of student development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated experience with web, graphic design and multimedia software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Premiere. Experience must demonstrate continual education of design, Web and multimedia technologies.
Various functions of marketing including research, graphic design, publicity, public relations, promotions, media and materials production, web and internet based advertising.
Knowledge of computer systems (Mac and PC), as well as software programs MS Office including Word and Outlook, and Excel.
Thorough knowledge of copywriting, editing and proofreading.
Manage resources effectively and work within a budget.
Analyze and solve problems, draw valid conclusions and develop alternate recommendations. Proven ability to generate imaginative solutions and create cost-effective alternatives.
Work with an ethnically and culturally pluralistic student body and staff. Proven positive work ethic and professional attitude
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
This full time benefited position employed through Associated Students (AS). AS offers an excellent benefits package including Medical, Dental & Vision insurance, Life Insurance, Vacation, Sick Leave, 14 paid Holidays, company sponsored retirement program and more.
The anticipated hiring range: $24.30 - $36.46 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
HOURS: Full-Time 40 hours per week; schedule is generally Monday - Friday during business hours but periodically varies to accommodate working evening and weekend events.
