THE POSITION
**Although there is a salary range for this position, salary will be negotiated depending on experience.**
This recruitment will be used to establish an open competitive and promotional eligibility list that may be used to fill this vacancy and vacancies occurring in this classification for a minimum period of six (6) months. Performs advanced level maintenance and repairs on electrical, mechanical, electromechanical and electronic equipment systems. Leads work and/or project teams.
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
Working Conditions: May work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in electronics AND three (3) years of full-time journey-level experience in electrical and electronic troubleshooting and repair.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License at the time of application.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician. A pre-employment drug test is part of the examination.
Background Investigation: Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, including qualifying education/apprenticeship/experience verification, social security trace, criminal history records review, driving history record check, and a personal credit history review.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical ability to perform maintenance and related work, including climbing and/or crawling in areas that are not handicapped accessible; stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodations may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodations.
Work is subject to exposure to high voltage, fumes, chemicals and solvents.
This classification is designed as "safety sensitive". This designation requires the incumbent to agree to random drug and alcohol testing, reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and United State Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (49 CFR 40 & 655 as amended).
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides expert level assistance and lead direction to staff on designated shift, project or assignments. Tests, calibrates and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical and electronic equipment for conformance to established standards and assists in formulating calibration standards (e.g., CatCom System, fare collection equipment, On Board Video Surveillance System (OBVSS), Multi-Media Onboard system (MMOB), lighting embellishments, and other systems as they relate to Technical Equipment). Designs, selects, modifies and/or adapts equipment or procedures to specific project requirements. Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment, according to blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and other specifications. Disassembles instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects components for defects; aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry; reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment. Performs preventative and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment, and all other associated technical equipment systems. Analyzes and converts test data to usable form, using mathematical formulas; devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations; prepares graphs and written reports to translate test results. Provides input / assistance with review of specifications, development of specifications, and evaluation criteria for procurement documents, contracts, and agreements. Assists with internal auditing, development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and tracking / monitoring KPI data as it relates to the equipment and performance trends. As a subject matter expert, conducts presentations and/or attends meetings to speak in regard to systems managed by the Technical Equipment department. Maintains inventory of parts and supplies; orders materials as needed and provides Return Material Authorization (RMA) oversight. May be required to drive revenue generating vehicles in the bus yard. Operates a variety of office equipment, including computers and associated software. Provides information and assistance to internal and external customers as required. Other duties as assigned.
GROUP INSURANCE - Health and dental insurance is available at a minimal expense to eligible employees, spouses and dependents. The RTC pays the monthly life insurance premium for eligible employees.
SERVICE CONNECTED DISABILITY INSURANCE - Eligible employees are covered by a Workman's Compensation Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act (NRS 617).
LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE - The RTC pays a monthly premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.
VACATION - Vacation leave accrual is based on length of RTC employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for each biweekly pay period.
SICK LEAVE - Eligible employees accrue 3.7 hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing 10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per biweekly pay period.
MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES - Court leave, military leave, parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave, and RTC promotional/transfer application examination leave are available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees.
RETIREMENT - Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System under an employer paid plan.
LONGEVITY PAY - Effective July 1, 2021, permanent employees who have completed 5 full years of creditable service with the RTC are entitled to a one time longevity payment in addition to their base salary. Longevity is paid annually, in a one time lump sum amount, at the rate of .57 of 1% at 5 years.
CREDIT UNION - RTC employees and their families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union.
TUITION REIMBURSEMENT - Eligible employees may be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of pre-approved, job related courses.
FMLA - Employees who have worked for the RTC for at least one year, and have worked at least 1,250 hours over the preceding 12 months are eligible for the provisions of the Family Medical Leave Act.
