Full-time position available with the Office of the City Manager, Office of Emergency Management located at 414 E. 12th St.
Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Leads, manages and performs work engaged in varied fiber optic cable operations, maintenance and design.
- Coordinates with high-level City management, Police and Fire Department personnel along with outside agencies, and City partners.
- Manges large complex enterprise-wide projects in a competent fashion including appropriate resource allocation.
- Provides expert level of analysis of processes and troubleshooting.
- Develops specifications, programs and documentation standards.
- Reviews, revises, develops, implements and oversees all components of the daily operations and functions including but not limited to, report preparation and presentations, preparing grant applications and managing grants that have been awarded.
- Monitors the entire fiber network, working with each end user to ensure optimal performance.
- Assists with general maintenance of fiber optic cable equipment and supplies.
- Coordinates financial recovery post incident.
- Coordinates and liaisons with all levels of government, community groups, schools and City partners.
- Develops and oversees a comprehensive City-wide maintenance contract
- Responsible for designing system expansion
- Leads process and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assists with defining customer requirements by conferring with customers, analyzing functions and required or desired outputs
- Anticipates customer needs and obtains regular customer feedback. Assures excellent communication with customers. Develop escalation procedures to resolve customer needs.
- Responds to City wide fiber cuts/breaks to coordinate contractor response and repair of the fiber break restoring fiber continuity.
- Participates in the City Wide Fiber Committee meeting.
- Assists in the maintenance and continuity of the City's Security Camera System.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 9 years of experience in engineering drawing, mapping, automated mapping, geographical information systems (GIS) and equipment or computer aided drafting and design (CADD), engineering, land survey, or construction inspection or an acceptable combination of education and experience; OR high school graduation and 7 years of experience in engineering drawing, mapping, automated mapping, geographical information systems (GIS) and equipment or computer aided drafting and design (CADD), engineering, land survey, construction inspection and possession of a Level II Engineering Technology Certification in any Civil, Electrical or Mechanical discipline as issued by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or "Land Surveyor in Training" as issued by the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects; OR high school graduation and possession of the Level IV Certification as "Engineering Technician (ET)" as issued by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or a Registered Land Surveyor's License as issued by the Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
