    Position Description
    Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

    Major/Essential Functions
    • Spearhead the strategic development and execution of a comprehensive Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program, integrating utilization and risk management to elevate care delivery and operational efficiency.
    • Champion a culture of quality by training and mentoring clinical and operational teams on CQI, Quality Assurance (QA) standards, and industry best practices.
    • Lead organization-wide quality and compliance initiatives encompassing patient care, staff safety, infection control, disaster preparedness, and employee health programs.
    • Design and implement targeted audit processes to uncover gaps in care and compliance, driving data-informed corrective action plans that enhance performance and outcomes.
    • Serve as the key liaison for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring prompt resolution of quality concerns and consistent regulatory alignment.
    • Monitor and maintain adherence to internal standards and external regulatory/accrediting requirements.
    • Review medical records and documentation to assess care quality and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Prepare the annual CQI/QA report and maintain the central repository for Managed Care audit documentation.
    • Collect, analyze, and present quality data to meet both internal benchmarks and external reporting obligations.
    • Partner with executive and regional leaders to evaluate trends, mitigate risks, and guide staff development based on audit insights and quality outcomes.
    • Monitor utilization and service quality through diagnosis-related group (DRG) review, HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) quality measures, audits, and complaints. Follow through on complaints and identify corrective action that is required.
    • Guide enhancements to core quality systems, including peer reviews, utilization management, and patient care evaluations.
    • Support the Chief Nursing Officer in nursing compliance initiatives, including peer review oversight and regulatory board coordination.


    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree required with six years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education beyond Bachelor's may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
