    The Position

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

    The Housing Division is seeking to fill a Chief Accountant position located in Carson City. This position is responsible for overseeing all accounting and fiscal management functions of the Housing Division. The role provides leadership in the development and implementation of financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations. It includes management of accounting operations, supervision of staff, preparation and oversight of financial reports and statements, and support for audits and budget development.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting and four years of professional accounting experience, two of which were equivalent to an Accountant III in Nevada State service which included responsibilities for compiling and reporting financial data for several funds of different types, developing financial statements and reviewing more complex funds and account groups as defined by size, reporting requirements, source of revenue and expenditure limitation, and developing combined financial statements and statements of changes in financial positions; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a related field and five years of experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Skills Required Supervisory Experience Microsoft Excel: Intermediate level The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
