    The Position

    Retail Storekeepers perform merchandising and inventory control duties to maximize profits in a retail store or e-Commerce environment which includes canteen stores and coffee shops in correctional facilities and other State retail operations.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    This position located at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs, NV. The Retail Storekeeper 2 will perform merchandising and stock control duties to maximize profits in a retail store environment which includes canteen stores throughout the statewide institutional facilities. Incumbents order inventory and oversee stock control and merchandising in a retail operation involving high volume turnover of a limited variety of merchandise which may include food, drinks, personal hygiene items, and small electrical appliances, receive and inspect merchandise, perform physical inventory counts, receive and input inmate orders per established procedures, print receipts/lists of authorized purchases; remove items from stock and package inmate orders; distribute or deliver inmate orders/merchandise after appropriate verification measures taken. Additional responsibilities will be to ensure items are within security level restrictions; enforce storeroom and computer security according to established policy and procedures, maintain stockroom and equipment per established health and safety standards. This position works under the direction of the Retail Storekeeper III and requires supervision of inmate workers, as well as Retail Storekeeper 1's, during the absence of Retail Storekeeper III. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school and two years of storekeeping or retail experience, one year of which included performing physical inventories, maintaining records and ordering merchandise; OR one year of experience as a Retail Storekeeper I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level.
