Job Location: This position will be located at 912 Wildwood Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109 preferred with flexibility.
Why you’ll love this position:The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) exists to promote and protect the health and wellness of Missouri citizens. The successful candidate will report to the Department Deputy Director/General Counsel, and will work closely with team members from the Office of General Counsel, Operational Excellence Team, and each of the six divisions within the department.
- Establish and manage a continuous internal control assessment and evaluation program;
- Develop an agency-wide process to evaluate internal controls through reviews and assessments;
- Establish and maintain a list of, and ensuring timely compliance with, applicable federal and state laws, and department regulations;
- Identify areas of potential risk and conduct end-to-end process reviews to evaluate compliance with current policies and controls;
- Identify areas where potential efficiencies exist and work with programs and office of operational excellence to implement;
- Assist programs with agency audit coordination, audit response, and corrective action and internal control development.
Minimum Qualifications: - Master's degree in a relevant field or Juris Doctorate preferred
- At least 6 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or auditing preferred
- In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and industry standards, and a proven ability to design, implement, and manage comprehensive compliance programs to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory adherence
- Strong experience in identifying, assessing, and managing compliance risks, including developing effective internal controls and compliance monitoring systems
- Experience conducting compliance audits and internal investigations, including handling internal reporting of violations and ensuring appropriate corrective actions
- Experience in drafting, revising, and enforcing policies and procedures related to compliance and regulatory matters
- Strong ethical leadership and decision-making abilities, with a demonstrated track record of fostering a culture of integrity and accountability within an organization
- Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) preferred
