    Ventura Water is looking for skilled electrical professionals eager to advance their careers in a dynamic and complex water production environment! As an Electrical-Mechanical Maintenance Worker, you’ll gain hands-on experience maintaining and operating essential electrical systems within a D5 water system-certified environment. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside the award-winning Ventura Water team and support critical infrastructure that ensures the safe and reliable delivery of water to the community.

    There are currently two positions available.

    What You’ll Do

    In this position, you'll play a key part in maintaining the operational reliability of the City’s water system equipment and facilities. As an Electrical-Mechanical Maintenance Worker, your work will focus on:
    • Performing electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of pumps, motors, control panels, and instrumentation.
    • Working on low-voltage electrical systems (up to 480 volts), including installation, diagnostics, and repairs.
    • Assisting in system upgrades and new electrical installations across pump stations, reservoirs, and water treatment facilities.
    • Supporting compliance with electrical safety codes and City policies.
    • Participating in on-call standby rotations and responding to after-hours service needs ( Additional compensation is provided ).


    This position offers daily exposure to high-impact systems in a diverse and complex water utility environment-ideal for those looking to build technical skills and prepare for long-term advancement.

    Incumbent may be required to work stand-by on a rotational basis and report to work on a callback basis as needed within a designated time frame. Standby assignment is at the discretion of the Division Head.

    About Ventura Water

    Ventura Water provides drinking water to more than 109,000 people through approximately 32,000 water service connections. This complex water system has more than 391 miles of pipeline, 3 water treatment plants, 23 pump stations and 31 reservoirs. Our community relies on three 100% local water sources - the Ventura River, Lake Casitas, and local groundwater wells, as well as, providing reclaimed water from the Ventura Water Reclamation Facility to two municipal golf courses, the Ventura Marina area, and private customers for landscape irrigation. We maintain a full-service laboratory and monitor our water quality daily.

    Experience and Qualifications for Success!

    A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to three years experience performing electrical and mechanical repairs and installation on a variety of electrical equipment and working with low electrical voltages up to 480 volts are required.

    Desirable :
    • Experience or safety training working around medium electrical voltage (4160 volt) is desirable.
    • Experience in a water utility or water systems environment
    • Experience working with CLA-Valves


    License: Possession of a valid Class C California driver license is required.
