The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), Division of Developmental Disabilities (DD) seeks a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP). The PNP, under the supervision of the collaborating psychiatrist, will provide direct service to stabilize individuals at risk of losing their residential provider or who have already lost their residential provider due to unmet psychiatric service needs. The PNP will also support the individual’s team in securing a community psychiatric provider, work with that provider to transition care, and monitor that individual after transition. In this position, you will have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of these individuals by reducing their risk of hospitalization, incarceration, and/or homelessness.
This position will be located in Kansas City, Missouri.
The salary listed in this job description is a base salary rate. Applicants eligible for time of service pay adjustment or shift differentials may exceed the salary range listed above.
- Provide mobile psychiatric services to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a community residential setting under the supervision of the collaborating psychiatrist and the Chief Medical Director.
- Provide recommendations to residential staff and other team members providing support to individuals receiving care.
- Complete referrals to and coordinate transition of long-term psychiatric services to a local Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization or other community-based psychiatric provider.
- Monitor and track progress of individuals receiving care.
- Review and prescribe medications.
- Recommend alternative care, such as hospitalization.
- Interact and communicate effectively with individuals referred for care, provider and case management staff, and team members across the department.
- Travel within the assigned region to conduct home visits.
Must possess an Advanced Practice Registered Nursing license in the State of Missouri.
Must be a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities preferred.
