    The Position

    Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    The Nevada Health Authority is hiring for a Social Service Program Specialist II in the Certified Community Behavioral Healthcare Center (CCBHC) unit. This position will provide policy and program support in Nevada Medicaid Behavioral Health Benefits Coverage Team. CCBHCs provide full-service outpatient behavioral health services including 9 core services and primary care screening and monitoring for children, adults and families. The CCBHC team provides technical assistance with regard to policy, data, claims, participates on site visits. Research and interpret state and federal regulations pertinent to policies and procedures. This position provides further support to the Behavioral Health Benefits Coverage Team as necessary. This position requires a highly motivated and self-directed professional with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. The ideal candidate will have experience and confidence to make decisions autonomously, without requiring continuous oversite or step by step approval. A strong sense of ownership and accountability is essential in this type of position.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
