    The Position

    Driver Warehouse Workers receive and store freight, load transporting vehicles, and deliver and pick up supplies, materials, and equipment.

    This position is for the Department of Agriculture, Division of Food and Nutrition in Las Vegas. This position is responsible for overseeing warehouse operations in our southern office which includes managing processes and procedures, staff, maintaining inventory, vehicle maintenance, compliance with state and federal regulations and safety protocols are followed. This position must manage receipt and delivery of a variety of federal food items such as dry, cold and frozen foods and the logistics of deliveries including delivery routes, ensuring the use of inventory methods such as First In First Out, Best If Used By, and pack dates. They will notify of damaged product and/or nearing the end of shelf life; completing monthly reports; ensuring vehicles pass inspections; assisting with delivery routes as needed; coaching and supervising staff in carrying out work unit operations and completing various supervisory-related tasks. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience in warehouse operations which included responsibility for loading freight, operating forklifts, and operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle to deliver supplies and equipment; OR one year of experience as a Driver Warehouse Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements Driver Warehouse Workers are required to possess a valid commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment if the vehicle to be driven on the job has a gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds or more. Some positions require double/triple trailer endorsement, hazardous materials endorsement and/or qualifications to drive an over-length combination vehicle. Driver Warehouse Supervisors and Workers may require certification to operate a forklift and/or other equipment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law requires random testing for controlled substances during employment. Additional Position Criteria Ability to drive a manual transmission is required. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
