    Introduction

Scottsdale’s Indian School Park Baseball Complex and Scottsdale Stadium are seeking an experienced Assistant Head Groundskeeper to join the talented team who expertly maintain a total of 7.5 baseball fields across two complexes.     The ideal candidate will have experience in:
    • Supervising a professional baseball grounds team
    • Collaborating with professional and amateur baseball organizations regarding their specific needs
    • Prepping professional baseball fields
    • Installing and maintaining irrigation system lines
    • Checking irrigation system for proper watering schedules
    • Planting, trimming, fertilizing and general upkeep of fields, parks, and surrounding grounds areas
    • Preparing maintenance budgets and supply orders
    • Scheduling equipment maintenance and establishing maintenance schedules


    Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $37.36/hour.
    The City of Scottsdale offers:

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
    • Three years of experience in landscaping, turf management, parks maintenance, or a related field.
    • Six months of supervisory experience in landscaping, turf management, parks maintenance, or a related field.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

    Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.
      • Note: Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted.
    • Within six months of hire, an Arizona Pest Control Applicator certification possessing Category 1 (Industrial and Institutional), Category 3 (Ornamental & Turf), and Category 4 (Right-of-Way) must be obtained.
    • Preferred: any combination of the following
      • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI).
      • International Society of Arboricultural (ISA) Certified Arborist.
      • Extension Turf Grass Certification.
      • Certified SportsField Manager.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
