PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST-PARKS AND RECREATIONDepartment: Parks and RecreationPay Grade: 111FLSA Status: Non-ExemptPersonnel Status: Regular Full-Time JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible forperforming specialized public relations duties in support of departmental programs and activities. This position reports to the Parks and Recreation Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Provides and implements public relations strategies for the department and community organizations.
- Serves as co-coordinator of City Fest and plans, promotes, and coordinates for departmental events.
- Oversees scheduling and planning of various meetings. Generates marketing plans for each event and both orders and designs event materials.
- Creates graphics designs, social media posts, and publications for the department.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties, to include answering phone calls from residents, entering service requests, following up with residents, filing and organizing documents, assisting the accountant, etc.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; three (3) to five (5) years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications: - Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is light work, which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee uses tools or equipment requiring manual dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed in an office environment and various outdoor environments, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
