Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the candidate selected is eligible for a years-of-service pay differential, it will be added to the total compensation. A pay differential does not raise the base pay.
This position may be filled at the Legal Counsel or Senior Counsel level.

Job Location: This position is located at the Harry S Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.

You will work with a team of attorneys and staff in a collaborative, supportive environment providing legal assistance to the Department on a wide range of issues including compliance and enforcement of Missouri’s insurance laws and regulations. This legal work assists the Department in protecting consumers and ensuring a level playing field for insurance companies.
- Represent the Department at administrative hearings and in court proceedings.
- Prepare pleadings and documents related to assigned cases.
- Draft orders, legal memoranda, and other documents necessary to the operation of the Department.
- Assist in the investigation of licensees and prosecute licensing actions.
- Draft, edit, and/or summarize proposed legislation and regulations related to insurance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited law school and membership with good standing in the Missouri Bar. Candidates with judicial clerkship experience or other experience in administrative law and litigation, insurance law, prior government service, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Employment in this position may qualify individuals for the provisions under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
