    Job Description

    Location : Central Office

    Salary : up to $33.65 hourly, based on education and experience

    Full Time /Part Time : Part Time

    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday

    Primary Hours: between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, up to 20 hours per week.

    Position Description:

    To provide dental hygienist skills, abilities, and knowledge for the Dental Health Service program area. This position supports Dental Health Service efforts to improve oral health throughout the state, including oral health education, improving access to care, development of public health initiatives, and collaboration with partners to incorporate oral health into existing and developing programs.

    Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
    • Provide training for CHD staff on fluoride varnish application as needed.
    • Lead oral health outreach efforts with CHDs and outside partners. Work with Community Health Workers, Health Educators, and other OSDH team members to incorporate oral health knowledge and resources into education curriculums and program efforts.
    • Participate in Dental Health Service budget meetings monthly.
    • Assist OSDH staff as needed when choosing products/informational materials related to oral health.
    • Update and disseminate OK Senior Smiles curriculum as needed. Build on the existing OSDH Communications-approved oral health education materials that are available for CHD use and public information. Update these as necessary to reflect current research and best practices.
    • Work with the director of Dental Health Service to explore potential grant opportunities that align with the program area and agency mission. Collaborate with the director on grant proposals as needed.
    • Assist with facilitation of the oral health components of the OSDH Strategic Initiatives and Strategic Plan.
    • Work with OSDH Communications to develop social media posts related to oral health.
    • Being present in the office is an essential function of this job
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Registered Dental Hygienist; active dental hygiene license issued by the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry; minimum of three years of dental hygiene experience.

    Valued Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Dental Hygienist should have a working knowledge of public health initiatives and dental public health.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    This position will be an in-office position. Employee will be required to work in the central OSDH office. Occasional travel is possible. Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
