Position DescriptionAre you a dental professional looking to make a meaningful impact while leading clinical excellence across a regional system? Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care is seeking a Regional Dental Director to oversee and enhance the delivery of high-quality dental care within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system in West Texas.
In this leadership role, you'll ensure that inmates receive timely and appropriate dental care while supporting and guiding dental providers across multiple facilities. You'll play a key part in advancing TTUHSC's mission of improving access to compassionate, evidence-based healthcare in underserved settings.
The Regional Dental Director ensures that appropriate dental care is accessible and provided to the inmate population in a timely and effective manner. This position provides clinical oversight and renders professional dental judgment regarding the care delivered to inmates assigned to West Texas correctional facilities, in accordance with TTUHSC Dental Department Procedures, Correctional Managed Health Care (CMHC) Policies and Procedures, and applicable national accrediting body standards.
The Regional Dental Director also provides advanced professional services related to the diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients, while promoting quality improvement and adherence to clinical best practices.
This position works under the general direction of the Executive Medical Director and operates with wide latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions- Aligns with TTUHSC's Values-Based Culture and models professional integrity, respect, and collaboration.
- Directs, coordinates, and ensures the delivery of a full range of dental services within the assigned region.
- Manages and oversees the regional dental program in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
- Monitors the operations of dental clinics within the region by reviewing and interpreting reports, auditing patient charts, and conducting on-site inspections.
- Provides administrative oversight and performance monitoring for assigned employees.
- Serves as the final dental authority in regional clinical discussions and decision-making.
- Reviews and evaluates the functioning of each regional unit's dental operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Compiles and analyzes relevant data and performance metrics; prepares action plans and reports as needed.
- Provides leadership to achieve established goals and foster collaboration among unit disciplines.
- Serves as the regional "prime mover" for timely completion of tasks, communication, and operational goals.
- Ensures organizational updates, guidelines, and policies are communicated effectively across the regional dental team.
- Investigates and responds to inquiries, complaints, and grievances in a timely and professional manner.
- Partners with Human Resources and other leaders to support sound personnel decisions and staff development.
- Demonstrates effective communication in all directions (up, down, and across the organization).
- Leads and sustains positive change initiatives across the region.
- Performs all duties of a correctional dentist as needed.
- Serves as an expert witness when requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, including coverage of nearby units when necessary.
Required QualificationsDDS diploma from an Accredited School of Dentistry. Seven years job relevant experience in clinical dentistry and supervision-management. Current Drug Enforcement Agency Controlled Substance Registration Certificate. Current license to practice Dentistry by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
