This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Office of Communications, and will be located at the
Lewis & Clark State Office building at 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101.If you love communicating and having variety in your day, this is the job for you. Join a team of enthusiastic, creative professionals who work to communicate to the public the importance of Missouri’s natural and cultural resources. You will collaborate with the publications team to create eye-catching and effective deliverables that help demonstrate the department’s mission, values and key messages.
- Develop and execute visually appealing graphic design solutions for departmental projects and news releases with consultation of the graphics supervisor.
- Projects generally relate to public affairs operations and may include departmental booklets, brochures, displays, banners, posters, promotional items, advertising, social media graphics and webpages.
- Develop visually appealing graphs, diagrams, charts, maps and other artwork as needed for design, including reviewing final proofs and outputting projects to a large format printer and dry mounting artwork as necessary.
- Skillfully operate an Apple Mac computer system using Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Photoshop, Bridge, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat.
- Collaborate directly with the department’s Directors Office and division leadership on design projects.
- Act as an agency liaison to provide graphics related to communications initiatives.
- Work effectively within a team to ensure process and project issues are communicated in a clear, concise and timely manner.
Represent the department’s publications team by fostering positive relationships, internally and externally, through excellent customer service. - Maintain a thorough archive of project files for future use and reference.
- Research and request applicable training required to maintain skilled, efficient operations.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Graphic Design, Marketing, Advertising or a related field, and two or more years of past experience in a graphic design position. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience.)
- Must maintain a current, valid driver license.
Preferred Qualifications - The ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives at the same time.
- Strong analytical thinking, planning, design, time management and project management skills, with an attention to detail and a drive to meet deadlines.
- Suitable oral, written and visual communication skills to convey design concepts to administrators, team members and the public.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud apps such as InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, and Microsoft Office 365.
- Knowledge of Section 508 Accessibility Requirements and the ability to produce accessible documents.
