Employees in this class are responsible for providing Level 2 support, maintenance and deployment of IT infrastructure consisting of data center facilities, enterprise Cisco networks, remote access and Wi-Fi communications, enterprise Active Directory and Email systems, physical, virtualized and cloud computing, VoIP telephone, call center and video conferencing systems, related applications, systems and peripherals.
To perform the duties outlined, Employees in this class will utilize ticketing and Network Operations Center (NOC) applications to document, monitor, and respond to end-user problems, requests, and device and systems alerts.
Work also includes researching and recommending improvements to current NOC and infrastructure services and procedures, and assisting higher-level Network, Systems, and Telephone personnel. Work requires the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of users in order to extract information regarding problems in order to quicken resolution. Employees must stay abreast of changes in the IT infrastructure field and must be able to quickly assimilate new technology. Employees in this class are required to work overtime on an as needed basis.
Under general supervision, employees in this class are required to exercise reasonable initiative, creativity, and independent judgment in performing work assignments. Work is reviewed through personal conferences, reports submitted, and quality of completed work.

This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Teamsters Local Union 769 and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769. THE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Have an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related field.
2. Have at least two (2) years of work experience supporting IT infrastructure (i.e. consisting of data center facilities, enterprise Cisco networks, remote access and Wi-Fi communications, enterprise Active Directory and Email systems, physical, virtualized and cloud computing, VoIP telephone, call center and video conferencing systems, related applications, systems and peripherals). Additional qualifying work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the education requirement.
3. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related field may be substituted for one (1) of the required years of work experience.
4. Possess or be able to obtain a State of Florida driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.

THE EXAMINATION AND HOW TO APPLY:
Depending on the number of applicants and the quality of their education and experience, the examination may consist of one or more of the following tests: Evaluation of Training and Experience, Oral Interview, Written Examination, or other assessment method. Applicants must attain a minimum score of 70 in each part of the examination in order to qualify. All successful applicants may be required to take a medical examination and/or pass a drug screening prior to appointment.
An eligible veteran who enters an open-competitive examination shall receive preference points added to the total passing score earned in the examination as provided for in the Florida Statutes.
