SCCHA is among the original 39 agencies out of approximately 3,200 PHAs to be granted Moving to Work status, a special designation from HUD that allows our agency to make strategic program and policy changes to better address Silicon Valley’s critical shortage of affordable housing. As a part of the solution to this challenge, SCCHA builds communities by developing quality housing offered at affordable rents. Like many endeavors this size, it takes a village to bring our affordable housing communities to fruition. We partner with the County in addition to our local cities, including the City of San Jose. Our real estate activities support several strategies and initiatives in the County’s Community Plan to End Homelessness, including prioritizing the development of housing for extremely low-income individuals and expanding permanent supportive housing.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 20,000 low-income households. How You Will Make an Impact: The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking an experienced leader who will manage, organize, plan and oversee the staff and activities of the Real Estate Department’s Asset Management Division including short-term and long-term planning. This position will manage and oversee the administration of the Agency’s portfolio of residential properties including physical, financial and compliance performance of stabilized assets and property management. This position will also analyze and manage new business, real estate and financial opportunities. The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department. The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The team works closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets. The Assistant Director of Asset Management plays an important role in ensuring sound operations and compliance in the existing portfolio, as well as creatively thinking about new business opportunities, financing strategies, acquisition efforts and larger strategic real estate efforts. What Our Team Is Looking For: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in social or behavioral sciences, affordable housing, real estate finance, public or business administration or related field; and Five (5) years of increasingly responsible management experience in government, affordable housing programs, property management, social service administration or related field with three (3) years in a supervisory capacity. A master’s degree is desirable.
