Hiring Range: $62,500 to $69,000 annually, depending on qualifications

The selected candidate will be required to work all weekday evening City Council and Planning Commission meetings. City Council meetings occur on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Planning Commission meetings occur on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month.

The Audiovisual Systems Engineer designs, implements, and manages advanced audiovisual (AV) systems across the City of Olathe’s facilities. Collaborating with internal teams and leveraging external vendors, the Audiovisual Systems Engineer ensures seamless operation and optimal performance of all AV equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements optimal AV solutions in collaboration with vendors; supervises installations; plans and tracks projects to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Programs and configures Q-SYS and Crestron control platforms for routing, interface programming, and audio dynamics.
  • Directs the broadcast technology equipment utilized in City Council and Planning Commission meetings, including video switching, camera control, and live streaming.
  • Manages and maintains AV equipment in conference rooms and multipurpose spaces; diagnoses and troubleshoots technical issues promptly to minimize the impact on internal customers.
  • Administers digital signage systems throughout the City; works in partnership with the service desk team to ensure efficient operation and maintenance.


Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting audiovisual systems is required. Advanced technical skills in system configuration, audio tuning, video routing, automation, and broadcast management are required. The successful candidate will also need strong verbal and written communication skills. Preference is given to candidates proficient in programming Q-SYS and Crestron control platforms.

Education: An associate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field is required. An additional two years of experience in an audiovisual systems engineer role may be substituted for a degree.

Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver’s license and favorable driving record are required.

Language: Proficiency with verbal and written English language is required.

Environmental or Physical Demands: The role of an AV Systems Engineer requires precise manual dexterity. Additionally, the role may require an individual to work in confined spaces or crawl under desks, which may involve bending, stooping, and kneeling. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds (lbs) individually and 75 pounds (lbs) as a team, is also required.
