Description:Jefferson County’s Open Space is seeking a detail-oriented and passionate individual to join our team as a part-time Restoration Monitoring and Maintenance Technician. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the success of ecological restoration projects by monitoring site conditions, maintaining restoration areas, and supporting long-term project goals.
SCHEDULE:This is a part-time position with flexible hours, 10-20 hours per week depending on project needs.
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $19 - $22 hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.
BENEFITS:Please note that this is a temporary, non-benefit position. Employees can earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:- Site Monitoring: Conduct site visits to previously restored areas to assess vegetation establishment, soil stability, and overall project success.
- Maintenance Tasks: Perform light weeding, watering of restoration plantings as needed, and ensure erosion control measures (e.g., signage, matting) remain in place and effective.
- Data Collection: Record observations about site conditions, plant growth, and any necessary maintenance or corrective actions.
- Reporting: Communicate findings to the Restoration Specialist and suggest actions to enhance restoration outcomes.
- Community Engagement: Occasionally interact with volunteers and community members, providing updates on restoration efforts or supporting volunteer maintenance days.
Physical Demands:This position involves hiking on uneven terrain, working in outdoor conditions across various weather scenarios, and carrying light tools, watering packs, or other equipment.

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities :
- A strong interest in ecological restoration and land stewardship.
- Basic knowledge of native plant identification or a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to hike and perform light manual labor in varying terrain and weather.
- Previous experience in ecological restoration, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Arc FieldMaps, iPad) and experience with basic maintenance equipment (e.g., hand tools, watering cans).
