Description: Jefferson County is looking for a
Maintenance Technician responsible for performing x in support of the County’s Operations department. We are seeking a hard worker, a team player, someone who loves what they do and is motivated to tackle a variety of tasks.
The
Maintenance Technician has all the skills of a general handy-man and is responsible for assisting in a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of County buildings on campus.
The ideal candidate is personable and professional, with a proven track record of successful maintenance and repair in a commercial facility. This position will ensure the standards of cleanliness and maintenance of the building and grounds. This is accomplished by conducting equipment and mechanical evaluations, repairing and/or replacing building parts as necessary for preventative maintenance and proper building functioning, and assisting higher skilled trades personnel with repairs, troubleshooting, and cleanup. Supporting service requests and evaluating and documenting maintenance and costs.
SCHEDULE:This position operates on a 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday, from 7:00AM-5:30PM with a 30-minute lunch break). Due to the nature of this position, in-office work is required.Overnight and on-call work is very limited , and coverage is typically managed by a rotation.
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $21.00 - $23.00 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs to the County buildings and grounds. Duties include:
- Perform basic installation and repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; Repairs lighting fixture repair and replacement; Inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions.
- Repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, and selves; Painting and patching walls.
- Complete basic repair and maintenance of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains; replaces washers and other minor parts.
- Solve workspace challenges through completion of the install, reconfigure, and removal ofsystems officefurniture.Moving boxes of supplies, books and materials.Fulfill furniture setup needs of public and staff in various meeting spaces.
- Monitor our inventory levels by maintainingand ordering parts for equipment.
- Operate County vehicle and other motorized equipment.
- Landscaping and grounds maintenance to include lawn mowing, trimming, weed control, seeding, fertilizing, and other outdoor related tasks.
- Snow and ice removal duties as required, as well as responding to building emergencies in the evening and weekends as needed.
- Prioritize work requests for optimal function of County systems.
- Performadministrative tasks, including ProCard processing, work logs and team communications using computers, laptops and mobile devices.
- Perform essential “on Call” responsibilities to enhance the security and safetyof ourfacilities by respondingto building emergencies in the evening and on weekends during your rotating on-call schedule.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:
- 1 year of work-related experience such as customer service.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certificate.
- Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience performing maintenance and repair in commercial facilities
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems in a commercial facility
- Experience as an excellent verbal and written communicator in a customer service position
