    The Role:

    The Payroll Technician supports business operations by processing payroll accurately and on time, resolving payroll issues, and coordinating with the Payroll and People & Culture departments. The payroll technician also assists with accounts payable and maintains compliance with all regulations while safeguarding company assets.

    What You’ll Accomplish:

    Keep in mind that this list is not all inclusive.
    • Review timecards, pay amounts, and special payments for accuracy using established policies and laws.
    • Investigate and document payroll discrepancies
    • Monitor payroll deductions and adjustments, including garnishments, union dues, deferred compensation, and voluntary insurance costs.
    • Respond to payroll and timekeeping inquiries; provide training as needed.
    • Create and post journal entries for various accounting functions, including payroll.
    • Process accounts payable, payment requests, and expense reports.
    • Prepare and submit government reporting, including taxes and retirement payments; ensure compliance with changes.
    • Generate routine and ad hoc reports for management.
    • Document payroll procedures and system changes. Maintain compliance with all contracts and policies.
    • Pursue ongoing training for payroll system/process improvement. Research industry best practices.
    • Handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
    • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.


    What We’re Looking For:
    • Associate’s degree or equivalent, or three years of progressive payroll experience, including two years’ experience with complex payroll systems.
    • At least one year of accounts payable experience or equivalent education and experience.
    • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
    • Advanced knowledge of computerized time/attendance and payroll systems; proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Strong mathematical skills (discounts, interest, commissions, etc.) and analytical abilities.
    • Effective communicator across diverse groups; able to interpret written, oral, and diagram instructions.
